Sea lions and seals are often said to resemble dogs. Just like dogs, these animals are playful and adorable. The only difference is that they live underwater. For many, sea lions and seals are basically just sea doggos.

Buddy, a 12-year-old senior dog who lives in Burien, Washington, has a special bond with these animals. Buddy loves to go swimming at a local beach in his area because, at that beach, Buddy gets to swim around with his sea buddies, the sea lions. And as for the sea lions, they seem to enjoy Buddy’s presence as much as he enjoys theirs.

Dan Lishner, Buddy’s fur dad, related to King 5 Evening News how his dog excitedly runs into the water whenever he sees the sea lions appear. Buddy would follow the sea lions till he becomes tired or until they swim away. And at times, the sea lions would swim beneath Buddy and play around with him.

According to Dan, the sea lions never let Buddy swim too far away, and they even swim him back near the shore before swimming away. It is obvious that both Buddy and the sea lions cherish the bond they have together. And many onlookers who visit the beach usually enjoy watching the special interaction Buddy has with the sea lions.

Buddy has even gained local fame ever since his frequent presence at the beach. Erica Stober, a local beachgoer who enjoys watching Buddy’s swimming sessions with the sea lions, said that the dog had become a community topic that everyone talks about. But due to his old age, Buddy’s days are not all good and fun.

Buddy suffers from growing pains and aches. This makes Dan wonder if it is time for him to put him to sleep. However, Dan quickly changed his mind when he saw how happy and carefree Buddy was when he swims with the sea lion. Dan loves his dog very much and would do everything he can to make him happy, even if it meant watching Buddy swim all day with his sea friends.
