Meet Coco, a Maltese sweet pup who likes to put her paws up whenever someone takes a photo of her. This funky doggo loves to do it anytime and anywhere for as long as her owner can remember it.

Katee Lauchner, the dog’s owner, lost her previous Maltese a couple of years ago and decided to search online for another Maltese to take care of—this is how Coco came to her life.

“We love to provide smiles with our posts on social media,” Lauchner said. “So when we work at the hospital, we always make sure to bring the same joy to people.”

After seven months, Lauchner decided to get another Maltese so that Coco would have another company. And that’s how they got Cici, which is actually Coco’s aunt, but they prefer to call them siblings anyway.

According to Lauchner, Coco is a smart dog, and training her does not require too much effort and time.

After having Coco for a week, she was instantly trained by Lauchner’s daughter, Jessie. She taught Coco how to sit, which was followed by how to do the roll-over and then the high five.

“Coco learns how to do plenty of things in the shortest period of time,” says Lauchner.

In an interview, Lauchner revealed that the ‘Paws Up’ trick started as a command.

“We knew Coco is special since our other Maltese isn’t as active as her.”

“Using the back of the couch as a support, my daughter gave her a treat above her head so she can learn how to shift upwards. This process was simultaneously repeated.”

Now the family can’t stop this cute furball from putting her paws up even on random times. She continually puts her paws up in the air when she wants a treat or to simply get the attention of her owners.

Lauchner started an Instagram for Coco and her sister, Cici, to regularly update their fans online. The duo’s account has reached more than 231,000 followers, and their cute pictures are being shared non-stop.

Coco and Cici work as therapy dogs in Phoenix Children’s Hospital close to their home.

“When she finally learned the ‘Paws up’ trick, she started to do it on her own. Coco loved it so much that she places her paws up in the air almost every single time,” says Lauchner.
