Dogs with special needs are often subjected to discrimination. Due to their disabilities, some people see these dogs as a burden. Thankfully, though, not all people think this way. Sheryl Smith is one of these people. She becomes a mother to this deaf and blind pooch named Shiro.
Sheryl is an animal rights activist, so she knows how to handle the different needs of dogs like Shiro. The woman understands the struggles that Shiro faces daily, so she is always there to support the pooch. Although Sheryl is fully aware of the dog’s limitations, the woman puts all her trust towards the pooch. She knows that even if Shiro is blind and deaf, the dog is still capable of doing other things.
True enough, Shiro is very affectionate towards other rescue dogs, according to Sheryl. Since the woman is an animal rights activist, Sheryl is also home to other animals she rescues. Sheryl said she could not take it if she would not lend a helping hand to animals in need. This is the reason why her home is always open to animals who need shelter and love.
Good thing, Sheryl gets enough help from Shiro. Despite the dog’s disabilities, Shiro becomes the father of the rescue animals whenever his owner is not around. The pooch would make sure that all rescue animals are safe and sound inside their house.
According to Sheryl, Shiro has this innate talent for comforting the rescue animals. Sheryl said that many of the rescue animals are disturbed and distressed. But when Shiro goes near them, the same animals feel safe under the dog’s care. This is the reason why Sherly is so thankful to have the dog as her partner in the advocacy she forwards. For Sheryl, she would not ask anything more from Shiro but to stay healthy.
