We are no longer strangers to the strength of a dog’s nose. This is why most dogs are capable of accomplishing extraordinary things because of their keen sense of smell. For one, dogs are capable of solving a crime and achieving a rescue operation through their noses.
But this recent study could put dogs on a higher level because the researchers need them the most. Archaeologists are working hard to search for ancient burial sites and artifacts. The reason for this is that these burial sites and artifacts are part of the human race’s civilization. The same likewise would open to discoveries about the human species.
However, since archaeologists’ talents are only limited, they need dogs to search for these historical artifacts. Some archaeologists are skeptical about dogs doing the job, but Andrea Pintar is trusting the talents of dogs.
Andrea put the talent of two dogs in smelling to a litmus test when they go to Croatia. The two dogs were brought to a burial site near the Adriatic Sea, hoping the dogs would find bones belonging to ancient people.
The archaeologist knew that it was a daunting task for the two dogs because the burial site existed 2,000 years ago. But to her surprise, the two dogs found a stone burial chest. According to Andrea, this was the signal she was waiting for to prove her claims that dogs could help them in their research.
But Andrea’s amazement did not stop there. As they went along with the test, one of the two dogs sat next to a flattened tomb and alerted Andrea that something was there. This time, the dog again found a burial chest. Andrea is convinced that dogs could help them with the research they are trying to do with the success of the test.
