Very few things in life are as miraculous as a new life coming into the world. Nothing is more adorable then very small animals looking for a way to keep from getting cold at the same time their mother nurtures the puppies. Their mother will keep the puppies from getting cold by licking them and staying close to her puppies.

There is a city named Ramon in the southwestern part of Russia . A dog named Kira, who is a Cane Corso and she is two years old. She was surprised just like her owners when she gave birth to 19 puppies.

An expert has stated that dogs of this breed usually only give birth to two or three puppies the first time they are pregnant.

The first puppy was born at night then it continued until five in the morning. The owners thought they were going to have three puppies, possibly six at the most. Kira did not need any help while giving birth to all these puppies.

The pround dog owners did assist when the puppies needed to be fed by only allowing six puppies around the mother at one time when the mother nursed them.

One problem with a litter of puppies this large is the mother can’t nurse all of them. Kira’s owners offered a solution to this problem by feeding the puppies on  formula milk.

Both dog parents took time off so the puppies could receive formula every couple of hours. They claim that the birth of all these puppies involved real magic.

Sadly, there was a puppy from this litter that passed away but the other 18 are in good condition.

Whether these puppies are drinking milk at the same time or playing with each other, they look adorable. Kira still does the best she can to control her puppies and keep them safe.

It’s very rare for a dog to give birth so many puppies at once. However, there are other breeds like Great Danes and Tibetan Mastiffs gave given birth to the same amount of puppies that Kira gave birth to.

Are there any ways to be certain how many puppies of a specific dog breed will give birth to?

The answer is no. You could get an ultrasound for your dog but that might not even provide an answer to how many puppies will be born.

Everybody knows of the Disney movie “101 Dalmatians.” What most people do not know is while this story is fake, Dalmatians usually give birth to a lot of puppies when they are pregnant.

Are there any Dalmatians that gave birth to a litter of 99 puppies?

No, that is still impossible even for Dalmatians. However, Dalmatians can give birth to a dozen puppies from a single pregnancy.

Dalmatians also are completely white when they are firstborn. Dalmatians will get those trademark spots everyone recognizes a short time later into their life.

While these spots look the same, the area where these spots show up, what color they are, and how small or big they appear to be are different for every Dalmatian.

Another breed that doesn’t give birth to a big litter of puppies normally is Chihuahuas. They usually don’t give birth to more than four puppies at one time. The puppies also are tiny when you are talking about size.

The mother must have a weight of around three and a half pounds for the pregnancy to be a safe experience. Highly recommended that an experienced veterinarian is there when this breed of dog is giving birth. Especially if the dog never gave birth to puppies before.
