Humans adopt dogs because dogs are the best companions at home. Dogs can be trained to do particular functions and skills, such as household chores. But since dogs have high intelligence, they could also be taught how to play games. This smart Cockapoo, later identified as Percy, is a living testament to this narrative. The pooch mastered playing the game known as Connect 4.
According to Percy’s owner, Sarah Shapiro-Ward, the dog’s favorite game is Connect 4. Sarah is a dog trainer from When Hounds Fly, so she thought of training the pooch to play Connect 4. At first, Sarah thought it would be hard for the dog to understand the dynamics of the game.
But as Sarah and Percy trained, the pooch managed to transcend expectations. Now two years old, Percy is not only a cute pooch but has also mastered the art of playing Connect 4. The goal of Connect 4 is to connect four similar colored pins to determine the winner. But while Percy has already mastered how to play the game, Sarah said the dog lacks the value of strategizing.
Percy knows how to connect four similar colored pins, but he could not make a defense when his opponent is on the verge of winning. Even then, Sarah knows that the dog would learn this skill eventually.
Sarah believes that what is essential now is that the pooch could use his mental faculty for such a game. As a dog trainer, Sarah understands that not all dogs could pull off playing this game. This is the reason why she is delighted that the dog mastered the game in just two months. Aside from Connect 4, the dog likewise enjoys outdoor activities like playing in the park and running around the neighborhood. For Sarah, this is the balance she wants to see in Percy.
